Introduction to Python application development for web data collection and analysis
– Wednesday, July 3 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
– Classroom 318 (3rd floor) of the Facultat d’Informació i Mitjans Audiovisuals
– By Douglas Cordeiro (University of Goiás, Brazil), postdoctoral researcher specialized in applied artificial intelligence.
The increasing demand for programming and data analysis skills in today’s digital environment necessitates the use of robust strategies that enable massive data exploration and the use of complex algorithms. Python, with its wide range of libraries and tools, has become one of the leading programming languages for web data collection and analysis. The course will provide participants with an introductory and general foundation in the development of applications to extract, process and analyze data from the web.
The objective of the session is to learn, in an introductory way, the potential use of the Python programming language applied to web data analysis problems. For this purpose, the schedule will be as follows:
– INTRODUCTION: Presentation of the lecturer and the structure of the course.
– PART 1: Python programming language.
– PART 2: The Google Colab platform.
– PART 3: Data scraping: generalist practical examples.
– PART 4: Data cleaning and preparation.
– PART 5: Practical examples of analytical indicator generation using Python libraries.
The seminar will consist of the presentation of the practical process of coding introductory and generalist examples of web data scraping and generation of descriptive indicators, using the Python programming language and the Google Colab platform.
